The short version
SnoreScout is built so that the sensitive part — what your night sounds like — never leaves your iPhone. Audio is recorded and analyzed on your device only. There are no accounts and no ads. The only data that leaves your device is a small set of anonymous usage events and purchase validation, described below.
Audio
- SnoreScout records audio only during a sleep session you start yourself, to detect snoring sounds.
- All audio analysis happens on your device. Audio is never uploaded, transmitted, or shared with us or anyone else.
- Only short clips of moments that sound like snoring are saved — never the full night. Clips are stored in the app's local storage, excluded from iCloud backup, and you can play, share, or delete them yourself. Older clip audio is automatically deleted as storage fills.
- Deleting the app deletes all recordings and results.
Your answers and results
Onboarding answers (who says you snore, room sharing, your goal) are stored only on your device and are never sent to us or to any analytics service. Snore scores, timelines, and night history are stored only on your device. SnoreScout has no accounts — we could not look up your data if we wanted to.
Anonymous usage analytics
To understand which features work, SnoreScout sends a small set of anonymous usage events (for example "onboarding completed", "recording started", "paywall shown") to Amplitude, our analytics provider. These events:
- are tied to a random device identifier, not to your name, email, or any account;
- never include snore scores, snore metrics, audio, health information, or your onboarding answers;
- include coarse, non-health details only (for example, session length rounded to broad buckets, and how a session ended).
Purchases
Purchases are processed by Apple through your Apple ID; we never see your payment details. We use RevenueCat to validate purchases and manage subscriptions, identified by the same kind of random, anonymous identifier. See the RevenueCat Privacy Policy and Apple's Privacy Policy.
Notifications
Bedtime reminders and trial reminders are local notifications, created and scheduled entirely on your device.
No tracking, no ads
SnoreScout does not track you across other companies' apps or websites, contains no third-party ads, and never sells data.
Data deletion
All app data lives on your device: deleting the app deletes it. To request deletion of the anonymous analytics events associated with your device identifier, contact us at the address below.
Not a medical device
SnoreScout is not a medical device and does not diagnose or treat any condition, including sleep apnea. Scores reflect all snoring sounds in the room.
Children
SnoreScout is not directed at children under 13 and, as described above, collects no personal information from anyone.
